Chiropractic Shown to Help Infants Suffering from Failure to Thrive
Recent research reported in the Journal of Pediatric, Maternal & Family Health – Chiropractic indicates that chiropractic care may help infants who are failing to thrive. The study followed a 3-month old who was delivered by C-section and was suffering from failure to thrive, colic, GER and acid reflux.
“Numerous case studies and some clinical studies are revealing that there is a relationship between abnormalities in the spine, the nervous system and the various health challenges that infants experience.”
Traditional treatments, including several medicines, weren’t improving her situation, so her parents sought help from a chiropractor. After an exam and X-rays, the chiropractor confirmed that the baby had structural shifts that could be interfering with healthy nerve function.
Following chiropractic treatment, her colic, acid reflux, GER and failure to thrive were all resolved. And, her parents also saw improvements in her sleep, weight gain and mood!

The researchers recommend further study on chiropractic care for infants who have suffered trauma at birth, but this case suggests that chiropractic is a safe, effective option to consider when an infant is failing to thrive.
